Mattel Is Releasing a Weird Barbie Due to Popularity From the Movie

The Barbie movie was such a huge success that Mattel made the surprising decision to release a Weird Barbie. Despite being in the shadow of the other Barbies, this character quickly gained popularity as many people related to her and her personality. The Release of Weird Barbie

Weird Barbie will be available until August 18th. In the successful movie, Kate McKinnon, who plays the character, helps the stereotypical Barbies discover who they truly are. Given how much viewers liked the doll, Mattel announced its release with the caption, “Time to get weird.” The company also posted pictures of the new doll with cut multi-colored hair, drawings on her face, mismatched clothes, and snakeskin boots.

The Price and Fans’ Reactions

Once the doll was announced, Twitter burst out with comments and reactions. One user wrote, “I want (also what if they sold her with her other outfits, too, oh god).” Some thought the doll was a necessity for every collector out there, while others weren’t impressed, insisting that she wasn’t created but made. Someone even suggested that they should sell a make-your-own Weird Barbie, as she can only become truly weird when you play with her too hard.

The price of $50 was also shocking, considering the fact that people could make such a doll on their own for 1/5th of that price or even get it for free if they simply had a Barbie, markers, and a pair of scissors.

Mattel has also released several other dolls portrayed in the movie, including matching Simu Liu’s Ken, Issa Rae’s doll depiction, Ryan Gosling’s Ken, and Margot Robbie’s Barbie in different outfits. Does that mean we’re getting an Allan doll too? The movie has already crossed the billion-dollar mark at the box office, according to official Warner Bros estimates. It is also the first-ever movie directed solely by a woman to generate more than a billion dollars.
