Here’s Some Professional Advice on How to Start Writing a Book
If you have a story in your head that you dream of turning into a book, you're probably looking for some tips on where to start. Starting from scratch might be difficult, but here are some recommendations from published authors to help you embark on your writing journey. It’s time to bring your New Year’s resolution to life!
Establish a Book-Writing Ritual
Think about when you feel most motivated. Are you more productive in the morning before the sun rises, or do you get ideas while on planes and trains? Some people work best when they're on deadline, too. One of the best things you can do is set a word goal for each day. Whichever time of the day works best for you, make a cup of tea or coffee and aim for about 1,000 words. You can also lower or increase the number depending on your daily routine. It will become a habit soon.

The other advice you could use is to find the workplace that feels the most comfortable. Whether it's your desk, garden, couch, or local café, think about a place that inspires you. Do you like working alone or surrounded by people? Also, what device is most convenient for you? A notebook, your phone, or a laptop? Gather all your equipment and get started!
